"Deryn is like a different little girl now. Eight weeks ago she was shy, unconfident and emotional about little things and got frustrated with herself if she couldn't do it. Now...what I am most surprised and pleased about is that she has made friends with other children in her year. Thank you."

Forest Schools

We launched our Forest School, in partnership with a local landowner,  in September 2012, when we began to deliver one day a week to a nearby primary school. Since that time our provision has grown so that we are now running Forest School five days a week, as well as weekend and school holiday groups, parties and Family Experience days.

Mikey Pearce, who leads our Forest School, is a level 3 Forest School Practitioner, with many years experience working with children in classroom and outdoor settings. We now deliver on 2 sites in Slindon Forest, and have recently added a site on the Stansted House estate; we work with  over 300 children each week from a number of schools in the area.

A typical Forest School day can include a range of sitimulating  activities which allow children to take managed risk, and use tools they wouldn't normally have access to. Activities  include:

  • Campfire making and campfire cooking
  • Making hot drinks using a Kellie Kettle
  • Shelter building
  • Woodcraft activities such as charcoal pencils, name tags, butter knife
  • Nature recognition and conservation

Activity days are available during school holidays, and we are happy to arrange private parties and Family Experience days at weekends. To discuss your requirements, please contact mikey@releasingpotential.com.
