Outdoor Living

Outdoor living covers a range of skills made popular by the likes of Ray Mears and Bear Grylls. We enable the young people to learn a range of skills that would help them in the wild.

We build shelters from just a few branches and things lying around. We practice lighting fires using all types of methods. We buy fish, learn how to gut them and  then cook them on the open fire in front of the newly built shelter. The young people learn to respect their tools, knives, saws and fire lighting kit using them safely and appropriately.

We have the use of a small woodland site where we can safely light open fires with the landowner's permission. This is a great place that young people can visit throughout the year and develop their understanding of how the countryside changes through the seasons.outdoor living
