For building our rafts we go back into time to the ancient Celts and build round single person coracles. Although the materials may have changed, tarpaulin and zip ties rather than bark and cord, the basic design is unchanged through the ages. The Celts would set sail across the sea in their coracles. I'm not sure I would want to cross any seas in ours but learning to control a boat with no front or back is a skill that takes time to master.
We would love to keep you in touch with our take on the world of education.
